“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, 1881 – 1955, Philosopher, Paleontologist
If we may cause discomfort, distress and hurt to others, then we may also be capable of causing discomfort, distress and hurt to ourselves. And if others may cause the same in us, they too will feel it.
Our natural connection with each other is what makes this possible. The truth is, we affect each other!
Have you experienced this? — When someone walks into a room and the entire mood of everyone in it changes? They may be a complete stranger, but nonetheless, they carry a certain degree of vibrations that can change the vibrations of many other people.
If this person is full of joy and spreads it, that is amazing. But what if that one person brought her/his energy of discomfort, distress and hurt to the room? Should it then not be of further concern that this person must heal? Should it also not be of more concern that the people who get affected by another person’s negative mood must also heal?
It is not just about focusing on the negativity here, but more, to go deeper and beyond so that we may perhaps understand this: To heal individually is to heal collectively.
A very important way that we can overcome pain in life, to experience our peaceful voyage, is when we realize We Are All One — it does not matter who is getting hurt; the reality is that we all are.
And so without hiding inside ourselves or conforming en masse to status quo – we can finally take complete personal ownership of what we do, here in our lives. There need no longer be the excuse or blame of the other party as the causing of a problem and us behaving a certain way as a result. This is what spirituality promises, and this is why me must look within to practice a life of truth and also harmony — a practical spirituality.
We can put mind over matter, heart over matter and may no longer need to act or react as anybody other that ourselves.
More, we can allow others to experience this same freedom. Because we share each others’ experiences as One.
The mind thinks of personal survival – very important. The heart, often thinks of giving, sharing and togetherness – also very important. When they meet along a bridge, they become equally important and commune harmoniously together.
If spirituality were anything — it is this — the way we treat others and the way we treat ourselves will be experienced in one same feeling, because We Are One. With that combination, may there be more goodness and Peace.
“What is spirituality and what is the soul? It is the bridge between the heart and the mind — to discover, not to hold.” – Vishal Singh
